Here is a letter we received from one of our customers.

Dear Sunset Drive In:

My husband and I wanted to say “Thank You” for a wonderful season! It had been since we were both children that either one of us had been to a drive-in theatre. We started coming to Sunset early this season (2008) and we have loved it. I can honestly say there was nothing we didn’t like. We love the family atmosphere, the double features, the prices and the food, and the quality of the movie and sound is spectacular. It is obvious you have put a lot of effort into making this a quality place families can come and have a safe, enjoyable time. So…Thank You!

See you in 2009!

Is there a set date for opening day yet? Looking forward to it.

My family also loves to go to the drive in to watch movies. With 4 kids that is the only way we can afford it. The only thing we do not care for are the bathrooms. We would love to see them updated with more stalls that would flush correctly. The port a potty's are good a idea however you should save the money on renting them and use that to upgrade the ones you have.

My husband and I love driving in from Rogersville to see the movies. We can't wait for the new season!

Any word on when that will start the 2009 season that is.

Great work!

My friends and I attend school in Rolla, but want to hop over to check out a show.

Any chance on being able to post what's showing more than a week in advance, so we may plan a weekend accordingly?

We work on a Monday for the next weekend booking schedule, unless it’s the opening of a movie on a national break. For instance, “X-Men Origins” opens May 1st, we will show it for 2 weeks. The 2nd feature is still yet to be determined. Hope this helps.

We have really enjoyed the drive in over the last two years, and we drive from Hollister to see them. Last year we visited a little bit less because you seemed to have an over abundance of G rated and kid cartoon movies. We understand keeping it family friendly, but would like to see some more pg or higher current movies also. Not complaining, just would come more often if it wasn't geared toward children movies every weekend. Maybe mix the movies up a bit.

My family and I go to the drive in often driving from Springfield. Last weekend was the first time this season. We love going, however this time we were disappointed in the fact that the movie did not start until after 9pm and there was a 40 min delay between movies. This seems excessive and causes the movies to end extremely late.

They are probably talking about Saturday night. I went to my son's high school graduation. It would either be late or close. I chose to be late. As for intermission, there were 20 minutes of previews and 20 minutes giving the restroom line to go down. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

I couldn't find anything on the site abou this question, but I was wondering if small trailers were allowed? If the Blazer pulling it were parked on the back row? We want to bring the grill, but that is about the only way we can think of bringing it.

Sunset Drive-In said...

IF YOU WERE TO BRING IT, YOU WOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE VERY LAST ROW ON THE WEST END. IT CAN NOT TAKE A SPACE THAT ANOTHER CAR WOULD TAKE. AND, AS WITH ALL GRILLS, MUST BE EXTINGUISHED BY LIGHTS OUT FOR THE MOVIE.

THANKS!

LARRY

I would love to see an old fashioned flea market. What a better place to have one. Ususally we have to drive to KS. You can take it one step further and have a motor cycle or hot rod swap meet. Those are two things my husband and I will drive the miles to go to.

The place is a "must do' for the family and summertime fun! Sunset is kept up nice and neat...hopefully it stays around for years to come....

why are you shutting down for the rest of the summer? I hope its not to just have a silly flea market.

Sunset Drive-In said...

We are not shutting down for the rest of the summer. The “silly flea market” idea came along later after the decision was made to temporarily close beginning in September. The down time is a result of years of slow Septembers and Octobers. This may not be a better idea but it is different. If anyone has any ideas on things to do please let us know.

Please Note: We are re-opening in November. Please check out our calendar for schedule of events.

My family & church have alot of younger children & youth that would like to see a clean movie this summer. Do you plan to have more of this sort? and can you put the ones for younger children on first, they always seem to fall a sleep? Is there also a way of knowing what is coming up in the months to come? We always need to plan ahead regarding church outings & family from out of state who have never been to a drive-in theater. We have always enjoyed coming to your theater, it is nice & clean, but you need more bathrooms and employee's to lesson the wait. Is there a way to get e-mails from you to keep up with what is happening with your schedules?
Thanks,
God Bless!

For upcoming movie schedules and events you can either go to our Facebook page or join our Twitters link that is on the front page of the website. We can only get movies one to two weeks in advance, but these 3 sites will let you know what is showing. Thanks for coming to the drive-in.

Will Disney Pixar's Cars 2 be playing at the drive-in this summer? I hope so! :) It will be released June 24th but I will wait to see it at the drive-in if it will be featured. P.S. Thanks so much Sunset for all the memories! :)
